T. Boone Pickens just listed his Mesa Vista Ranch on the market for $250 million, making it the most expensive property in the U.S. The expansive ranch covers more that 100 square miles northeast of Amarillo. Pickens prefaced the decision with a tweet saying he had “Big news today,” before listing his prized panhandle.

Pickens, financier and oil tycoon listed the ranch citing various health issues at his age of 89 years old. His health includes a series of strokes and fading vision that no longer allow him to fully appreciate his ranch and its scenic views.

As he gets older, Pickens said that selling the ranch is the “prudent thing for an 89-year-old man to do.” He hopes to find a buyer who will treat the property as well as he has. “I’m proud of our conservation efforts that have taken place over decades and hope the next owner has the same passion,” he said.
